Dubai AI Trackless Tram GITEX 2025 Sets New Transit Standards

Dubai AI trackless tram GITEX 2025

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to unveil its groundbreaking Dubai AI trackless tram GITEX 2025 project alongside AI-powered patrol cars. The global tech event, running from October 13 to 17 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, brings together over 6,800 companies and 200,000 visitors from around the world. This platform fits perfectly with RTA’s vision of embedding AI and smart technologies into public transport systems.

The highlight is the Trackless Tram, an electric, autonomous solution for urban transport. Unlike traditional trams, it uses optical navigation, LiDAR, GPS, and cameras to follow painted lanes without fixed rails. This virtual tracking reduces construction time and costs while offering flexible route options, making it a more sustainable and efficient mobility solution.

Alongside the tram, RTA will showcase AI-powered patrol cars and smart mobility platforms designed to enhance traffic management and road safety. These projects use real-time data and predictive technologies to optimize traffic flow and improve road monitoring, supporting Dubai’s goal of becoming the smartest and happiest city.

The Trackless Tram will launch across eight locations, expanding Dubai’s transport network alongside the driverless Dubai Metro and electric Dubai Tram. Each tram has three carriages, carries up to 300 passengers, reaches speeds of up to 70 km/h, and operates on a single electric charge for about 100 km. This fully electric system underlines Dubai’s commitment to eco-friendly transport.

RTA’s work aligns with Dubai’s Main Roads Development Plan 2024–2027 and the Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2030. These plans aim to create a world-leading AI-powered infrastructure model focused on connectivity, efficiency, and sustainability.

In addition to the tram and patrol cars, RTA will display eleven pioneering smart transport projects at GITEX. These include AI-enabled vehicle inspection systems, connected vehicle networks, rail defect detection using lasers and computer vision, and the world’s first urban aerial taxi in trials, significantly cutting travel times.

These innovations reflect Dubai’s leadership in applying AI, robotics, and IoT to transform urban transport. They emphasize the emirate’s commitment to sustainability, safety, and enhancing user experience through smart mobility solutions.

Visitors at GITEX 2025 will get a firsthand look at these technological breakthroughs at the RTA pavilion. Dubai continues to set the global benchmark by adopting AI-powered transport and intelligent traffic systems for a smarter urban future.
